Your First Visit
As a new patient, we will spend a portion of your first appointment just getting to know you and your dental needs. You will have the option of filling out your initial paperwork online, prior to your first visit, so you won't feel rushed to complete it in our waiting room. Our welcoming staff will bring you into your private dental room for a thorough dental exam and a consultation with one of our dentists. We will discuss any recommendations for treatments so you can ask questions and consider your options. If you're ready for it, we can even do a cleaning for you that same day.
Checkups and Cleanings
One of the most crucial aspects of preventive care is your six month checkup and cleaning. Skipping these appointments and ignoring prevention puts you at a great risk for developing tooth decay and oral infections. These routine visits give our dentists the opportunity to check for cavities, gum disease, worn out restorations, oral cancer, and other potential oral health problems. During these visits, our team of hygienists will remove any plaque and tartar built up on your teeth leaving you with wonderful, clean-teeth feeling.
Day Hill Dental is committed to using the latest digital x-ray technology in our practice. Compared to traditional x-rays, digital x-rays reduce your exposure to radiation and provide us a more accurate image of your smile in a safer way. Digital x-rays help our team spot evidence of decay, infection, and orthodontic issues that can’t be seen with the naked eye.
Oral Cancer Screenings
It’s recommended that adults undergo an annual examination to screen for any early signs of oral cancer. We perform oral cancer checks at each hygiene appointment, so we can notify you of any changes we are seeing in your mouth. Below are some risk factors that increase your chances of developing oral cancer.
- Tobacco use
- E-cigarettes and vaping
- Heavy alcohol consumption
- Prolonged exposure to UV light
Nightguards for Bruxism
Chronic headaches, jaw pain and worn teeth -- these are all symptoms of bruxism, or nighttime teeth grinding. Are you suffering from this common condition? We can create a custom nightguard for you to stabilize your jaw and shield your teeth from the excessive impact of grinding and clenching. The simple treatment can help you enjoy a full, uninterrupted night’s sleep once again.
We’ve got a strong defense against cavities and decay, and it’s especially effective for cavity-prone children. Dental sealants are thin coverings painted directly onto the chewing surfaces of your child's back teeth to protect the molars from the bacteria and acids that cause cavities.
No matter the sport or level of play, all athletes should protect their smiles with a mouthguard. Over-the-counter guards may be bulky and uncomfortable for your child. A custom-fit mouthguard will be aligned with your child's teeth and help protect their smile better than a one-size-fits-all.
Sleep Apnea Treatment
More and more adults are being diagnosed with Sleep Apnea - a disorder which prevents a person's brain and body from receiving sufficient oxygen while sleeping. This condition can contribute to other serious chronic medical conditions. The first line of treatment is usually a CPAP machine, but these do not work for everyone. If a CPAP isn't right for you, you may benefit from a removable oral appliance instead. Sleek and comfortable, it’s worn only while you sleep, and it works by keeping the lower jaw and tongue in place, so your airway remains clear for easy breathing.
