Oral Sedation

If a patient has significant dental anxiety, one of our dentists can prescribe medication to be used as an oral sedative during a dental appointment.  The most commonly prescribed dental-related drugs that treat anxiety belong to the “benzodiazepine” family (ie: Valium, Halcion, Xanax, Ativan).

Please note: YOU MUST HAVE AN ESCORT to and from an appointment when you are taking an oral sedative, even if you traveled by bus or foot.  It’s easy to become disoriented on these medications.
